I’ve Been Hacked

In a world where we use our mobile phones every minute of every day; getting hacked is the last thing you want.
It’s happened to everybody; the sheer panic when your iPhone show’s up as ‘Your apple ID is being used’.

A mad panic soon sweeps over you, followed by a frantic action to change your password and create Fort Knox around your private life.

New Age Hacking

Gone are the days where a simple virus scan would solve the virus you’ve just downloaded. Mobile phone bugs or hacks were unheard of and a password only had to be capitalised and an unusual word to be secure.

Unfortunately, despite the warnings, we all use the same password on every website; and try to make it as memorable as possible. Many of us also leave a note on our laptop or email account containing our passwords which also makes it easy to scrape.

If you find you’ve been hacked our advice is to install something on your PC such as PWGEN an app which creates random ‘passwords which are cryptically strong’.

711.5 Million accounts hacked

Unfortunately, a BBC story recently highlighted how compromised your data may be. Unfortunately it;s not just email accounts that have been compromised. Shockingly around 745,000 pacemakers have a security issue which could lead to them being hacked.

Brands that have been hacked include; Adobe, Dropbox, MySpace and Linkedin. It’s been estimated that 711.5 million accounts have been spammed; scraping data, passwords and spreading infected emails.
If you’d like to find out more you can read the full BBC report here.

Nokia 8 Launch

Since the dawn of the Nokia 3310 we’ve been inundated with new features and fads every time a new mobile phone is released. This August we saw the launch of the Nokia 8; we’re not sure how they went from model 3310 down to 8, but we’ll go with it!

Since Apple has focused more on performance over their last few releases it’s exciting to see what Nokia is bringing to the party. Previously they launched some of the first waterproof phones so we’re keen to know what’s in-store for the Nokia 8.

Advanced Selfies

It’s been announced they have invented the ‘bothie’. If you’re feeling confused and unsure what this means; don’t worry you’re not alone. It’s a selfie where you can take a photo with the front, and back camera at once.

Be Social

The ‘bothie’ is actually designed for things like Facebook live so you can share your face and whats happening in front of you using both camera lenses. For example a concert, you can show the stage and your friends dancing with you.

A picture speaks 1000 words

It looks like this latest phone from Nokia has focused primarily on updating its camera features and casing. With the modern trends of Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook live; it’s an obvious step for mobile phone companies to be prioritising these features and leading the craze.

If you’re thinking of ditching your old mobile for the latest Nokia, don’t forget to recycle your old one by selling it to Cash In Your Gadgets here.
